What We Did
When it comes to stone chip damage on a bonnet, there’s no quick fix. Most touch-up pens or brushes sold online simply don’t deliver a lasting result.
A few years ago, some mobile services offered “stone chip repairs” using tiny airbrushes from the back of a van. They would fill each chip with solvent-based paint, but without lacquer, the repair would often wash out within weeks. These methods were designed for the used car trade to make cars look presentable for sale and were purely cosmetic and temporary.
At A&J Dent Repair, we take a different approach. Proper stone chip repair requires sanding the entire bonnet, priming, and careful colour matching to the wings and bumper. In many cases, adjacent panels also need painting to ensure a seamless finish.
This Skoda didn’t have many chips, but the owner was very particular, so we completed the full repair. While the wings weren’t blended, the bonnet now matches perfectly with the surrounding panels.
There’s no shortcut for quality stone chip repairs, but if you need professional help, call into our garage or give us a call anytime.
